DC Grays MVP youth program keeps growing
Since 2016, DC Grays Baseball run a youth baseball/softball program for DC kids. While the program is open to all, the vast majority of our kids come from Wards, 6. 7 and 8 – some of the most under-resourced communities in the entire DMV.
Our programs allow local kids to play baseball in the summer and fall, and it gives more advanced players the ability to play a program that is as good or better than most travel programs in wealthier areas. Many of our coaches are former college players, so our players get a high level of instruction and play against top local competition.
Here's the best part – DC Grays MVP is FREE to all participants. DC Grays Baseball pays for all uniforms, equipment, transportation, field permits, tournament fees, coaches stipends, umpire fees, etc.
Our program is made up of the following:
Ward 7 Baseball - our summer "house" league for kids 10-12 years old.
Junior Softball - this is a developmental program for girls up to age 12.
Travel Softball (8U/10U/12U) - this is a travel-team format for more advanced players
Junior Travel Baseball (8U/10U/12U) - this is a travel-team format for more advanced players
Senior Travel Baseball (15U/18U) - these teams compete in regional tournaments against top competition.
This year our kids will be participating in the Metro Junior Baseball League (MJBL) championship tournament in Richmond in August, as well as local tournaments in the DC area. We also schedule single games and double-headers against local travel and RBI programs. Our kids will also participate in two Georgetown Baseball NIKE camps – one in Washington DC and one in Tysons Corner, VA.
Our younger kids come from local Little Leagues like Mamie Johnson Little League, Joint Base Anacostia Bolling (JBAB) Little League, and Senators-Satchel Page Little League. Our older kids come from local middle school and high school programs. This year we are working on reaching out to kids in Prince George's County, MD to get them playing ball for DC Grays MVP.
