In the bottom of the first, Drew Rybinski (Georgetown) hit a sacrifice fly to bring in Hartley Rahman (Catawba) from third. Another two runs came in with RBIs by Evan Wilson (Richmond) and Ben Drinkwine (UNCW). This hot start set the momentum that would stick around throughout the course of the game.
Simon Corbin (Macalester) started on the mound for the Grays. He would proceed to pitch almost 6 innings letting up 4 runs with 6 strikeouts. He dealt on the mound and made sure the grays stayed in the lead. Corbin threw 106 pitches in this dominant outing. He was succeeded by Caden Brown (Southern) who threw 1.1 innings and let up no runs.
The fourth inning was a big one for the Grays. A two run home run by Parker Shenman (Catholic) and a RBI single by Xavier Bradley (Southern) would put the Grays up 6-0.
Four runs were scored by the Braves in the 6th inning due to a RBI groundout, walk, and single. The Grays would still hold the lead and win the game through 7 innings. It was a big victory for the Grays and a huge tone setter for the week ahead.
