Grays Fall to Thunderbolts Despite Eight-Hit Effort
By: Jackson Loomis
On the last night of July the Grays faced the Silver Spring-Takoma Thunderbolts. The Grays ultimately lost 14-2.
Starting on the mound for the Grays was Coen Devillier (Catholic) who threw for three innings. Noah Bagby (Southern) and Nelson Hayes (Georgetown) came in relief. These pitchers filled up the zone effectively. Unfortunately the Grays made four errors in the field making it harder for the pitchers flip the innings.
At the plate the Grays had eight hits. Beny Bikar Jr. (Southern), Hartley Rahman (Catawba), Jackson Loomis (Denison), Xavier Bradley (Southern), and Peyton Ford (Cal University of Pennsylvania) each collected hits. Rahman scored the first run with a RBI single by Loomis. The other run for the Grays was scored on a fielders choice that scored Peyton Ford.
Overall, the Grays swung the bat well but couldn't hold the Thunderbolts sufficiently. The Grays now prepare for the next game against the Alexandria Aces to set July off to a hot start.
