Grays Held to One Hit in Weather-Shortened Loss to Giants
By: Ethan Wentworth
The Grays' bats weren't able to heat up in this game, leading to a 6-0 defeat in a shortened affair in Gaithersburg.
The Giants started this game off hot, scoring 2 runs in the first frame. The Grays would get their lone hit of the game in the second inning from Joey Chitla (William & Mary), who returned to the lineup ready to go after a few games away from the team.
The Grays offense wouldn't be able to get him to home plate, as it wasn't an effective game at the plate. Gaithersburg would add to their lead even more with 1 run in the second and 2 runs in the third inning.
Reliever Daniel Ockerman (Georgetown) would come into the game for the Grays at this point and would have solid play in the limited time remaining before the game was cut short. He'd pitch one inning and only allow one unearned run on 0 hits with a strikeout.
The game was cut short after the top of the fifth inning due to the incoming weather in the area, and the final score was 6-0 Giants. The Grays look to get back on the board with a win 6/6 at North Point High School against the Southern Maryland Senators. Benny Bikar Jr.(Southern) will be representing the team in the All-Star game 6/7 at 7PM on Shirley Povich Field as a DH as well.
